Columbia, SC – Kayla, an 11 yr-old Pit bull/Boxer mix, goes everywhere with her loving guardian, James “Scotty” Johnson.

Johnson refers to his dog as “his daughter”.

On Saturday, Kayla was resting inside of Johnson’s work truck – enjoying the cool air-conditioned interior while her guardian did some yard work on Shelley Road.

Unfortunately, someone took advantage of the situation – hopping inside of the 2007 2 door, blue Nissan Titan and driving away with the vehicle, work trailer and most importantly, Johnson’s beloved dog.

Johnson’s truck is valued at $27,000 – the trailer holding lawn equipment valued at $5500… but he has no interest in those material things.

He worries for his dog’s safety.

Kayla was his constant companion and he is devastated.

Though the Columbia police have an alert out  for the stolen truck, trailer and dog – nothing has been found as of yet.

Please look closely at the photo of Kayla – be alert for a dog who may have been abandoned along a road in the area.

Anyone who has seen anything or who may have a piece of information which could be of help, is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
