Thank you to iBoston Terrier for sharing this story about Charlie and the strain this family is going through to make sure Charlie gets the treatment he needs. (Follow iBoston Terrier on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/#!/iBostonTerrier).
The following comes to us from Leslie and her boyfriend
Our two-year-old Boston, Charlie, was recently attacked by my boyfriend’s roommate’s dog. While it could’ve been much worse, he still managed to bite Charlie’s face, removing his eye from its socket, and puncturing the eyeball itself. The doctor now thinks Charlie will be able to keep his eye, but will most likely not be able to see from it again. His eye is stitched shut at the moment to heal, but it’s possible that when the stitches are removed, he will no longer be able to close it completely, requiring a $2,000 surgery to reduce the size of the opening. With the cost of the initial visit to the eye specialist and the follow-up appointments, this is going to set us back several thousand dollars.
We generally like to keep a pretty decent cushion of savings for emergencies like this, but this happened at probably the most inopportune time. My boyfriend quit his job in June to move from Missouri to California to begin school this August. He has yet
to find another place to work and still has to cover his school costs for this semester. He’s also decided to find a new place to live, so as to avoid any future contact with his roommate’s dog. All of this has exhausted our savings and now, well, we’re broke.
I’ve set up a PayPal donation page for anyone who feels like helping us through this ordeal (even the teensiest bit is appreciated!). BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE. I don’t want to accept donations without giving something in return, so I’ve made a big ol’ batch of
Charlie Burger buttons. Any donation of $4 or more comes with the button of your choice! There are five different pictures to choose from, so I’ll e-mail the address that is provided with your PayPal donation and you can let me know which one you’d like!
