Mattie Missing in Crestview FL

The following is from Mattie’s Facebook page:

Mattie got out of our home and our lives, on June 13, 2012. It was an accident; she’d never been out of the house or the boarded fenced back yard, ever unless she was haltered and leashed and being walked by one of us. We simply should have had a lock on the gate – we didn’t. Someone had been in our backyard and forgotten to properly latch the gate when leaving. We don’t know who it was as we don’t use that gate. We know from the neighbor children that both our Aussies suddenly “came through the gate” while they were playing next door. Marnie went to one of the children and she put Marnie back in our yard and closed the gate. Mattie just ran as the kids were calling & chasing her to come back. She wasn’t haltered & not micro chipped. We’re devastated. Flyers of Mattie are in every Vet’s office from Crestview to Destin. I check the shelters regularly – even borrowed a humane trap twice from PAWS when a lead led us to set up a feeding station, etc. All to no avail. We’ve had her on the radio; I go door-to-door, etc., walk through woods daily until I have optical illusions of seeing her only to find it’s a log or a pile of leaves. What I thought were her remains was one of these illusions. Crestview is located in the NW corner of the Fl panhandle – 25 miles from Destin, 18 miles from Niceville, 30 miles from Ft. Walton Beach, etc. People drive through this area all the time – Destin is a beach vacation spot – very crowded during the summer. She’s out there – somewhere! You can reach me on my cell phone at 850-603-1451 or home at 850-306-1122. I’m retired and easily available and even more so if it leads to finding my girl. Feel free to call me if you need more information. I regret that I don’t have videos of her – you’d be in love with this dog for sure. Thank you all for your love and concern!!! Katherine
